Besides being the most visited capital in the world it contains the largest concentration of higher education having 43 universities and a population estimated at over 8 million with more than 300 different languages spoken.

The architecture is very diverse from the Victorian & Georgian era to the newly constructed 72 storey ‘Shard Building’ at London Bridge being the tallest building in Europe. There are numerous parks and public gardens with most notably the Royal park of Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens and Regents Park which contains the worlds oldest scientific Zoo. The largest industry is finance with over 480 overseas banks having more than any other city in the world and over 100 of Europe’s largest companies have established their headquarters within Central London. Tourism is also a major factor with an estimated 14 million international visitors per year.

Regarded as being the capital of music amongst many venues are the prestigious Royal Albert Hall, Royal Opera House, O2 Centre and the headquarters of the major music corporations from around the globe. Besides having recently hosted the 2012 Olympic Games the most famous football stadium is located at Wembley and both Lords and the Oval are considered to be amongst the finest cricket pitches.
